Sunny Isles Beach Fashion Show

Hi there! The past few weeks have involved so much designing, cutting, measuring, and of course…sewing! Why so much? Well, on 3/23/2018 my Modern Vintage Collection will be showcased at the Sunny Isles Beach Fashion Show, which will be held in The Ancient Spanish Monastery in North Miami Beach. To add to it, a few of my designs will be worn by some of the current title holders from the Ms. Art Deco Beauty Pageant, which is stellar organization produced by Fatima Coello. It’s truly an honor to have such graceful ladies wear my designs down the runway.

So if you’re in the Miami area, pass on by. There will be cocktails, photographers, a red carpet, and even Paso Fino horses from the Hacienda Guadalupe Equestrian Academy! Click on the link below to get your tickets. Have a glamorous week and see you there!

Miami Beach Art Deco Weekend: The Retro Fashion Show

Every year in January a huge street festival takes a hold of Miami Beach. It’s run by The Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL) to recognize, educate, and celebrate the imprint that the Art Deco era left on the area. It’s a three day event full of music, food, and vintage cars. One of the events, The Retro Fashion Show, was voted as “one of the best things to do during Art Deco Weekend,” by Miami New Times. The event is held right by the beach on the footsteps of the MDPL building. The show is curated by the fashion show director Angela La Muse, who has a personal style that’s reminiscent of a 1940’s Hollywood star.  She captured the essence of the Art Deco era with her selections, which featured a colorful lineup from local designers.

This year I had the opportunity to participate in this amazing event and showcase two of my latest vintage inspired designs, which were featured in my earlier posts Revisiting the 1950’s and The Modern Vintage Dress. Each design on the runway showcased a superb sense of craftsmanship with a fine attention to detail. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of the show alongside such talented designers.

For a moment, on the beach, time stood still as the models transported the audience back to an elegant and bygone era. It was a weekend to remember!
